Affiliation resellers

Fellow programmers,

I was thinking about using affiliate marketing to boost my sales. I took a quick look and it seems there are quite a lot of these services.

Do you have any experiences with this ? Any good and reliable sites that you know ?

Thanks

Is your app already on the market ?

Yes. Im using sellfy. I only sell something when I promote with facebook but its very little and it takes too much time.
So I was wondering if affiliator resellers could be helpful

Affiliated resellers use to promote an app only if it is already well know. Difficult if your app has little exposure.

I would first work on having the app better distributed throughout. If you develop for Mac, the Mac App Store IMHO is a must.

For both Mac and Windows, a web site is a must. Facebook can be nice, but users look for a web site. That is perceived as more professional.

You should also concentrate on providing an evaluation sample for people to try, and make sure it is on every repository conceivable : CNet, Softonic, Tucows, whatever… In the evaluation package, make sure to send the users to your selfy payment page.

I believe such a policy will bring much better rewards.

I used those sites years ago when I was making freeware, now I noticed that most of them use “downloaders” which I don’t like, I’m afraid they inject adware

They do use downloaders. But they do not modify your installer itself. Especially if you digitally sign it.

I don’t like it any more than you do. Now, ask yourself why a vast majority if not all of publishers have evaluation versions on these platforms. The market is what it is. If you want to sell, you better do what is needed.

Now, building a decent web site is another matter.

If you find your sales low, ask yourself what others are doing to sell a whole lot more, and just do the same.

I can highly recommend http://blocsapp.com for creating Bootstrap-a-like websites. Very simple to use to create awesome looking/animated websites.

MyCommerces and Avangate are the most popular affiliate network for desktop software.

Magret this mycommerce site seems to be very interesting, I just opened an account to see it in depth.
I use sellfy wich I like, but its a bit too basic and doesnt offer marketing tools.

That comment was just spam, Horacio. The user signed up to make that post and only that post. There’s no flag spam function on this forum but I didn’t want to bump the topic by saying anything.

I wouldn’t use either of those services simply because of the spam tactic.

The most spammed forums on the Internet are the marketing ones. I am surprised the title of this thread in Google did not attract spammers like cockroaches around a cracker crumb.

Anyway, after some interwebs investigations I found out that mycommerce has very bad reviews a lot of complaints from ex users.
Avangate seems more professional at a firts sight but the commissions are too high for me (I sell micro-apps in the range of just a few bucks)
I read good reviews about Fastspring and it has various marketing systmes : affiliations, resellers and royalties also.

Any experience with Fastspring or any other platforms for digital ecommerce ?

There are a few threads on the forum where Xojo developers share experiences with these and others. You should be able to find the threads easily with the search function.
