Indeed, the level of abstraction provided by Xojo is amazing. That is the real benefit.
For having played with Swift, it is extremely nice, but much too close to the framework for comfort IMHO.
That said, when Xojo is laced with heavy doses of platform dependent declare, it loses that wonderful abstraction level, and could become just as heavy as Objective-C.
