Yes VS 2015 does not really affect your ability to ship for old windows. And besides how far do you really want to target ?
With no changes in settings then 2015 compiles run just fine on XP…

huge complex dances because of deprecated easy method.

To minimize SDK itself?
My current code calls REALNewMemoryBlock for sizes < 2 GB due the use of 32bit integer there.
For bigger, we already use the newer way by calling Constructor.
