PEPPOL ... oh boy .. developers possible hell

Did you mean:

Local laws in other EU countries are different, but the final goal is to defeat vat fraud.

?

Sorry, defeat, not defend. English is not my native language…

Yes, and those e-invoices needs to be done via PEPPOL (the only legal way to do this in Europe). For Germany this is 100% for sure from 1/1/2028

No, again. We have to use e-invoices, but only B2B and not B2C. I’m not sending invoices to Fastspring.

And once again: where did you read this?

The last few months it was my daily business to program the e-invoices (and to get the neccessary knowledge about them), because my main business are invoicing apps.

For Belgium your right, PEPPOL is coming in 2026 - some of my customers already asked for support of PEPPOL, but in Germany nothing is decided yet.

So you are saying Fastspring is a customer and not business? Odd.
Don’t you need invoices for your income?
Here in Belgium you need to make an invoice when you want to receive money when doing B2B
If you have a VAT and do business with for example Paddle who also have a VAT, you are doing B2B, so invoice is needed. If you do not, it is considered ‘black money’.

Maybe only in Belgium.

For Apple and FastSpring, they send the money and I write myself an invoice for the accountant. They don’t need/want my invoice.

For 2checkout, they write me the invoice, basically a credit note.

Could I gently remind people that the these requirments appy to the EU, not to the whole of Europe. A number of European countries are not in the EU: Norway was never a part of the EU, the UK left, and Iceland and Switzerland abandoned their attempts to join some years ago.

I have legally binding contracts with Fastspring and Apple. I don’t need invoices from them. There is no black money involved.

Offcourse not. Why would you need an invoice from them? It is the otherway around. You need to provide them an invoice so they pay you. B2B

As Christian mentioned correctly. He (and I do this too) makes invoices to them (paddle, fastspring. apple,…) but in the end do not send the invoices. It is just to have a correct administration.
That is how it works now if you do not want get in trouble.
With Peppol, this will be a bit different (and more complicated).

Well, I’ve only been doing this for 20+ years. Fastspring is a merchant of record:

A merchant of record (MoR) is a legal entity responsible for selling goods or services to an end customer. They handle all payments and take on the associated liabilities, such as collecting sales tax, ensuring Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, and honoring refunds and chargebacks.

So no invoices from me to Fastspring necessary.

Here in Belgium you always need to make an invoice to collect money. It doesnt matter what business you do.
Lucky you, you do not need to this. :slightly_smiling_face:

To me, Belgium seems a part of the hell that the devil outsourced to make parties with his favorite bureaucrats.

Brazil is not free of them too. But on the contrary of Belgium, over time, our almost Soviet Bureaucracy seems being diluted instead of increased.

True. :persevere:

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, and my opinion is that you exaggerate. It was the EU bureaucrats, after all, who outlawed the gouging “roaming” tariffs in Europe, and lots of other citizen-friendly measures as well.

I really don’t understand all the problems you think you will have. obviously you’re talking about something you don’t know. My company use Peppol since 2019 and no problem at all. And after so many years of experience I can only see all the benefits for the EU citizens. Other opinions are shortsided. And by the way, I’m from Switzerland (Bulach) and I would never go back to live there.
Any way people outside EU that sell to EU don’t have to matter with it. I do import and export from all over the world and this thread shows the worst impact of older people could have to the modern and younger society.

Lets ignore this reply which is clearly ‘I know it all and you know nothing’. But thank you for your valuable input, nevertheless.

PEPPOL lets safe us and our governments a lot of money. So what are you talking about? You have any experience?
