Is there a way to read a compiled Applescript?

I’ve saved as application a simple AppleScript (earlier today), closed the (previously) unsaved script.

Then, I loaded the application and get its script.

Now, I do not understand the purpose of this conversation.

Is it possible to get a simple explanation ?

You can save AppleScript app with or without source code.
If source code is included, you can always just open it in script editor.

it’s awlays been like this. save the script “Run Only” and you don’t have the source inside the file.

I asked because (I forgot) I do not have that on El Capitan…

I checked (once more) before writting these lines (and before asking).

But now I understand the op question.

We have done this 20 years already in old System 7.5…

I was using Save as application, not Export…

This explain that.
