The hidden .xojo_upstate file is not an artifact of a crash. It holds the current state of the Xojo ui for the current user and the project folder that it’s in. It is not meant to be checked in or diffed. If deleting that file allows you to open the IDE, you might consider zipping up one that’s giving you trouble so Xojo can figure out how to fix that particular bug.

Something I hadn’t even brought up yet . . . I was having to shut off Norton security to debug. I just opened my app in my browser with Norton security running. Thanks for this fix too.
. . . Never mind. The Norton problem is not fixed.
Anyone else using Windows 11 and Norton 360? Is Norton blocking debugging?
Anti-malware software can, yes. There’s usually some way to whitelist Xojo.
