Yeah, but only for people who love to be on the bleeding edge … of a gone era, sometimes called nostalgy.

There is a difference between keeping the older framework working so it does not break existing code, and updating it, when a new framework class provides the new protocol.
It is like requiring to put ABS on every 1955 car.
