Thanks, Richard. That’s very helpful. I’m beginning to understand this much better now. And what is the best place to install the console app. Can it be outside of the root for security reasons so long as it’s on the same server as your PHP web app?

I’m not by any means a Linux expert but you need to install it outside of the webspace, so I chose /opt. If a Windows box I would probably pop in the Program Files structure. PHP can shell exec wherever as long as permissions play nice.
