here is a newer version of the Audio Converter (OSX) with converting from ogg or to ogg.
for Windows you need to customize the shell commands.
I’ve ripped my entire CD collection, firstly to WAV format (lossless but huge files) until I discovered FLAC, which is lossless compression resulting in files typically around half the size of WAV files although much bigger than their MP3 equivalents. The FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is, as its name implies, free and open source. see https://xiph.org/flac/.
Lame also had legal issues when you use this in a commercial app. It can cost yiu quite a bit. (Trust me, I know)

Thanks but it looks like I could get into legal issues with this.
Thanks
The link takes me to example.com? Would this let me convert MP3, WAV and OGG? As long as a can convert between any of these formats I will be happy.
Thanks
Could I use ffmpeg if the installation used the internet to download and install it. So I would not be distributing an illegal copy. Could I convert between any of the MP3, OGG and WAV with commercial use and without paying for license fees and using the commandline interface to perform these commands.
Thanks a ton
Weird. It took me to FLAC - What is FLAC?.
It converts to FLAC format only. I used it to convert from WAV to FLAC. There would be little point in converting MP3 to FLAC since MP3 is lossy and the point of FLAC is to compress without loss.
There’s an extensive FLAC FAQ (!) page at FLAC - FAQ which should answer all your questions.

Tried the link again and it now works. Would this be useful to convert between MP3, WAV and OGG though? These are the only formats which I require. THANKS

BUMP
Can anybody tell me what they think?
Thanks
It looks like any kind of commercial use of this software is not allowed without paying license fees.
Thanks
Does anybody know if the VLC media player command line interface would be any good for what I am trying to achieve? Thanks
