Is it “recent past”? Wondering if I made a mistake when I bought my Mac mini in 2021…

I would also recommend getting more than the 8GB entry-level RAM. Apple’s been trying to say it’s great but it’s probably not enough.

Also, refurb can be your friend, especially if you buy from Apple - they’re in a white box but look like new and are protected by Apple as if they’re new.

Check out Refurb.me to see when they’re available and link directly to them in Apple’s store (and others if you want)

Sounds like a plan - thanks :+1:

It was an issue when I bought my M1 Mac Mini, so it’s been around for awhile.

Rumor has it that the M4 might have 16GB minimum.

Apparently these are the real deal. Fell off the back of a truck and shipped by China in a drone shipment to Russia. :grinning:

I have a Macbook Air M1, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD.

My only regret is not getting a 1 TB SSD when I bought it a couple years ago. I needed to wait a couple of weeks for it to get delivered but I was too impatient. My big mistake.

My SSD is full and am constantly trying to clean up some space. Very frustrating.

i think it depends what data we have.
this 256 GB is just not the free space.
there is the os, library’s,apps, maybe games,
photo and video data, music, temporary and the need of free space for updates.
xcode and emulator images took much.

I don’t really see it becoming my main device, so I’m not sure that storage space is as big an issue for me compared to speed.
I’m likely to keep my i7 Desktop PC for home stuff/storage and my i7 laptop for work (currently doubling up for xojo)

Plan is to move all my xojo development onto the Mac, and not much else.

this year i got a Apple 2023 iMac All-in-One Desktop-Computer. (planned essentially for development)
i use both windows and apple (work & private) because each have some advantages.

For the last few years, despite all my end users using Windows, all my dev work is on a Mac. I’ve finally retired my maxed out Intel iMac27,my M1 Air and M1 iMac and replaced them all with an M3 Air (15’') 16Gb / 512Mb and this works silently, quickly and incredibly well.

The ARM version of Windows runs superbly on M series Macs (via Parallels) and has done for a long time so one computer to rule them all lol. I only work 4 days nowadays and 2 of those are from home, so a single easily portable device is great. I know theres an Apple event soon but they won’t be upgrading the Airs this year so I took advantage of the current 10% discount on Amazon. Should I have waited? Nah, I don’t think so, you can spend your life waiting to buy ‘at the right time’ and I got what I needed at an acceptable price.

So you have lots of choices and Amazon in particular have some great deals at the moment

Useful thanks :+1:
