I’m just imagining the power of having an AI debug and optimise (at my discretion) an entire app’s worth of code - rather than just snippets here and there. Just think of the headaches and wasted time it could remove.
Think I’d rather have the compiler do it.
Currently it will destroy your app.
ChatGPT and sorts are still waaaay away from giving reliable results, and I doubt this will change soon. It’s a nice helper I use on a daily basis, you have to know about what it spits out or you’re lost.
For example I tried the last two days to set up an not so advanced emailserver (Debian, postfix, dovecot, fetchmail, amavis, open-dkim). That setup is straight forward and well documented. It ended in a unusable system, chatgpt going round in circles. I learned much, but I’m going to install this system the traditional way: rtfm
That said, it is imho not advisable to integrate this unreliable tool to let it fissle with your code directly, even setting security/privacy aside.
Just my 2 cents.
spent!
