App is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash

You can either waste your time with Apple (sign/notarize) or you can waste your time with the users that contact you when they see the ‘damaged’ warning, Apple rules.

Haha, clear and direct, like it! Ok, spend my time with users then.

and get a really bad reputation in the process. Apple has made it even harder, as you cannot now remove the quarantine flag without disabling SIP. Which requires a reboot into safe mode, command line actions and another restart. No sensible user would disable a raft of security features in order to get your app to work unless it is worth a whole lot to them.

Its not about removing the quaratine flag - this message is caused by a false or missing code-signing. On ARM a code-signing is required, so even if you remove the quarantine flag the error message will be shown to the users…

It honestly blows my mind how Xojo users will throw buckets of money at a semi functional product, but participating in the developer program that everyone else in the world does to help protect users from malicious actors is just out of the question.

I’d like to follow you up on that, can I send you a little program and see if it will remove the Quarantine flag for you?

I also suggest this little Finder extension that will let you right-click on a file or app to see how it’s signed:

Sorry I’m out of action. I busted my shoulder.

Sorry to hear that. You in A&E or at home?

Thanks, Home now. Not a fun day. :worried:
