Over the next 40 years until all the paranoid old folks are gone!
I hope not; I love driving. I am not interested in automated cars, not because I don’t think they’ll be safe. As already been discussed, they have the potential to be far safer and more efficient that human drivers, and there’s a great deal of people on the road who don’t like to drive, so this is perfect for them.
I love early morning open roads, the windows down, the music loud, the wind, the roar of the engine, the boost whistling, navigating the corners correctly so that you lose minimum speed and are already in position for the next one. That guy who thought he was fast on the straight bit of the road, loses all confidence as you pass him easily on the outside of the turn.
Just imagine what it will be like when the passing lane isn’t being hogged by someone (who’s not passing), or vehicles don’t just pull out without looking. Or my favorite, doing 30 in a 60, with a big long queue behind them and not giving a damn.

it obvious from that post that you DO NOT live in the United States, and definately not a CALIFORNIA driver…
- Open Roads? uh… bumper to bumper traffic
- Windows Down? only if you want to choke on the smog.
- Music Loud? ok, that one works regardless
- Wind? (see bullet #2)
- Roar of the engine? (only if you are revving it while waiting for traffic to move)
I’ll take the demise of an empire for $500 Bob.

So … Did you see the Olympics opening ceremonies and the drones … and the drones forming the Time magazine cover … and …
Watch this video and get really scared:

Have you ever flown a drone? This could really happen.
I’m not scared of anything that can be thwarted by a mosquito net.
