2026... Anthropic CEO Said AI Would Write 90% of Code in 3-6 Months

I am a software developer since 35 years and i am writing code now only with AI.
Claude is the main working AI since claude is able to compile c++ and python code on claudes server. So when i also let ALL AIs develop test cases and post them into claudes prompt then Claude can develop the software that will compile without errors and claude can check against all the test cases. This can be done with c++ and python.
We need a Xojo Command Line Compiler that is handed over to Claude so that will also work with Xojo.
Right now it is really a burden that i need to compile Xojo locally on my Mac and then paste the errors to Claude.
I am now kind of 40 times faster then before.
I can finish now things in one year that would have needed a whole lifetime before.
But i can see that this only works for experienced Software developers since ALL AIs often goes wrong ways.
When you let 3-4 AIs work together and always correct them then the code quality is really very good.

This will never happen. Too much of the UI code is intermixed with project loading and whatnot.

We just need Claude to rewrite the UI code :slightly_smiling_face:

Very intersting! Can you share what type of apps you build, may some in App Store or available as demo?

Rick,

I agree with you. So far I’ve only had it produce code that worked the first time once. I think partly because my prompt was very specific, but also it was a simple task and of course some luck. Several times since, I’ve tried to duplicate the first time success and that has not worked out. I either then have to fix it myself or tell it what’s wrong and it may or may not fix it properly. Usually after several iterations, it produces the code I need created or gets close. It will obviously continue to improve, but who knows when it will get better enough to complete tasks that meet human approval without further instructions or editing.

Well… not 2026. Ask me again in 2027. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

CAP GEMINI ann yesterday lay off “due to AI” btween other causes… :frowning:

Lol @ Anthropic CEO.

I’m actually a fan of AI (or what we used to just call machine learning). But the hyperbole being thrown around by these companies is irresponsible and reckless (in the big picture). They’re only doing it because they need to keep that sweet VC money pouring in while they light piles of money on fire subsidizing everyone’s expensive queries and training the next generation of models that will still not be profitable.

There will probably come a day in the next 10-20 years when AI can write 90% of code. But 3-6 months? Not a chance.
