Xojo licences disappeard

All at once I cannot build any more any app. The Licence window is void.

I downloaded my licence, but after following the usual step, that is dropping it into the Licence window, I get this message:

What should I transfer when I work alone on one Mac only?

Meantime I contacted Xojo, but in case my mail has not reached them, Xojo, please gelp me out.

Thanks.

The answer is in front of you. You forgot your license activated somewhere. Click Transfer and it will deactivate there and activate in your new destination.

Enter in your account and see what’s going on here: Licenses

You can deactivate any user/machine/license clicking the (X) under the chosen licenses and activate the freed license again in another place.

The reason I did not click Transfer, is that I cannot understand what you call ā€˜somewhere’. I had been working all the day on Xojo. Then I quitted Xojo; and after some time I restarted it and found that I could no more make any build (message to buy a licence or to log in).

Actually, could it be that since I had been working on a version of Xojo on an external disk, something happened as if the licence ā€œmovedā€ on the external disk?

I do not see anything wrong. And I did not assign my licences to anybody.

If, for any reason, your license is at some sort of clone, external disk, etc when you transfer it back you will have your machine working. That’s not what you (should) want? Just proceed and activate your machine back.

I diid it and as you said, I got it. Thank you very very much.

Can you tell ma what does ā€œthis licence has 0 activations remainingā€, please?

Seems correct. Activated. A lite lic has zero extra activations, just the one you used.

Got it. Thank you again Rick.

Q: This means, in case Xojo Lite is installed on multiple boot volumes of the same computer multiple times, only one of them can be used to activate the license?

It’s just a question, I’m fine with.

@DetlefK

Maybe this can help

https://blog.xojo.com/2020/04/16/xojo-license-faq/

Most likely, yes. The license system may mark as different system if the volume is different.

I would say yes also

but since it is a retired license probably best to ask hello@xojo.com

Not sure, but not important, your solo license should exist activated in just one place (probably machine:volume). Just know that, act accordingly, and everything should be fine.

In my case, I was working on a Xojo version ā€œlocatedā€ on a non-bootable external disk. So I was actually working from my only machine.

I saw a ticket about this recently. The last time I saw the ticket, Xojo staff weren’t interested in fixing it. Can’t find it now :person_shrugging:

I started getting the same message when I try to compile my app.

But I’ve been using and compiling it on this machine since the summer. I started getting the error when the latest Xojo release came out. I follow the steps to install and activate it again on this machine. And every time I quit and compile Xojo, it demands that I reactivate it again on the same machine.

Does your license include the most recent version of Xojo? If not, it may be removing expired licenses when it launches.

In my case, yes, it is included.

My license is also for the most recent version.
I’m not sure what you mean that it may be removing expired licenses since it seems stuck in a loop.
