I have an ‘old’ laptop Acer Aspire 7740.
Intel i5 - 2.26 GHz - 4 GB Ram - Intel HD Graphics - 500 GB Harddisk.
What would be the best Linux Distribution for running XOJO and create desktop applications.

I have the same setup but upgraded to 8GB RAM
You should be able to get started no problem but I would start thinking about upgrading the RAM (if the hardware supports the upgrade)

What Xojo version do you like to use?
Latest or some older one?
I would either pick Ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04.
I agree with Brian - I run Mint 20.1 as my real, personal development machine. It works very well in almost every situation. I also have more RAM (64GB), but I’ve run the Xojo IDE in VMs set for 2 CPU cores and 4GB of RAM with no issues. Your i5 system should be perfect for the majority of your tasks.
No issues running with openSUSE Leap 15.2 either. Xojo 2018 r3 and latest. Usable as a daily driver.
Thanks for the replies.
@Christian : I would like to use one of the latest version = Xojo 20r1.1 (same as I use on my windows desktop PC).
I think I will try several distributions to find out which I like best.

As I posted earlier in this thread
