support for 10.8 is deprecated
are you using 10.8 or 10.8.5 ?
I’m using 10.8.5
The past few versions of Xojo have done this so it has nothing to do with 10.8 being deprecated (why it is being deprecated & removed in 2017r2 doesn’t seem to have been explained anywhere).
I’m not in front of my Mac at the moment but I’m sure I solve it by changing the security settings to allow apps from anywhere and then launch Xojo by right-clicking the app and choosing open. Once it has launched the first time you can revert you security settings.
We usually support as many old versions as we can - unless they start to impose issues that prevent us from updating our code base to support newer versions, prevent us from using newer versions of Xcode, or cause significant compatibility or support issues
Not just Xcode, but even Apple’s APIs change so frequently (and some are pointless name changes). Making it hard for a lot of developers (especially the ones that use Apple’s own language) to maintain support for OS versions older than 3 versions.
Which is fair enough. However, at the same time you are dropping 10.8 support with very little notice, no explanation for why it is being dropped and in the same version that will finally give us a version of 64 bit compilation that works. Its situations like this that can make it difficult to feel love for Xojo.
You can’t run the latest Xcode on anything lower than 10.11. Just for comparison.
Just FYI, 10.7 and 10.8 have been deprecated since 2016r1 was released.
