Windows Landscape Printing Broken in 2017 R1

Printing landscape reports is broken if you use OpenPrinter in 2017R1. If you use OpenPrinterDialog it appears to work okay. Less than ideal.

Two releases in a row with printing reports being broken. Is it possible to get a dot release?

Is it possible to get a stable release?

+1 for a dot release.

It’s not only landscape printing that doesn’t work properly on Windows…
3 reported issues on my list:
<https://xojo.com/issue/47483>: without showing PageSetupDialog you get a Letter Layout (instead of Printer’s Default, e.g. DIN A4)
<https://xojo.com/issue/47565>: Printer Setup Strings not working
<https://xojo.com/issue/47546>: Landscape printing

+1
Also, please consider making StyledTextPrinter resolution independent somehow. Printing to a high-res image and then printing the image is very slow compared to how fast StyledTextPrinter was the way it worked before in windows.
(StyledTextPrinter uses a static image against the static resolution device that is presented by Direct2D printing)

I think I have seen various combinations of these. I have a private case that I think incorporates all three of these.

I think we can all agree that we can’t wait 3 freaking months for this to get released.

Yes please we need a dot release. We need to use 2017r1 because of some fixes it has so we cannot simply revert back to an older Xojo version.

I just noticed that the Printing Feedback’s are currently on top of ‘Recently active’, but with no changes visible (to us). This might be a good sign

I, and several others, have been lobbying for a dot release. Geoff just sent me a note saying it was going to happen.

When the beta appears we all need to bang on it pretty hard to get the last of these issues resolved.

thanks @Bob Keeney, that’s good to hear
the 2017r1 betas have been quite unfortunate regarding the windows-printing-changes, as even more obvious issues (e.g. scaling) have only been fixed towards the end of the betas, so there hasn’t been enough time to test-report-and-fix the issues mentioned here because it just wan’t possible to try that during most of the beta-period…
anyway… it seems users have meanwhile reported what’s not yet working as expected - and with those issues fixed printing seems to be in a good shape again for windows, such as HiDPI graphics in general for windows builds - much better compared to 2016r3.
and even some old issues don’t require workarounds any more because of the new printing engine, such as rotated stringshapes: <https://xojo.com/issue/15804>

I’d love to see <https://xojo.com/issue/47467> fixed as I can’t print with DynaPDF currently using Graphics class.
