What about some limited but cheeper Pro Version in 2026?

You’re all dreaming, if you think any of these ideas will have any influence on Xojo Inc.’s licensing in the short-term or long-term.

They’ll do them, and you’ll either pay whatever they say, or go elsewhere.

In the meantime, keep treading-water…

Nothing would every change if everybody shared your attitude.

What attitude?

Xojo just changed (removed Lite license) 3 months ago. They allowed Lite users to extend their license 1, 2 or more years before they removed it.

Do you really think that they will change the licenses again less than a year before they have new data that confirms if they made the right change?

They haven’t even released a new version after the license change. The dust haven’t settled yet.

In the last few years we saw: Lite license at $99, increase to $149, temp sale for $99, then $99 became permanent, finally Lite being removed. Also adding features (free for Linux, even build, save in text format). So who knows what the future will bring.

Personally, I don’t see a change during 2026 but anything is possible.

Are you sure about that?

Because the view from my desktop has changed considerably, since “voting with my wallet".

Now, the only fee I expect to pay in the future is for an Apple Developer Subscription.

I’m also following this discussion thread with great interest.
Indeed, removing the Lite version might discourage hobbyist and small developers. From what I’m reading, the main issue seems to be the price increase, which is hard for many to afford all at once.
Maybe Xojo could offer an installment payment option (for example, via PayPal)?
That could make it easier for people to decide to purchase a license.

This and that healthy companies usually keep a well balanced range of products to reach different budgets — that’s how you grow your customer base and keep the brand strong. If they suddenly go all-in on expensive models, it might say more about their financial troubles than about “premium repositioning.” :frowning:

Sounds.. too reasonable :frowning:

This changing from free or almost free to too expensive was also the reason i changed to Xojo 3 years ago. I am happy now with my Xojo 2022 and 2024 releases…maybe changing in a few years ago to another programming language.
