Outages happen to everybody, so I’m not suggesting anybody move away from SendGrid because of it. But when I was investigating providers I found both SendGrid and MailGun have pretty high rates of blacklisted servers. You’d have to go up to the Pro $90 per month to get a dedicated IP address. Postmark has been far more reliable in that regard, being the only provider I tested that gave me 100% deliverability from a GlockApps test. Using my own server gave me better deliverability than SendGrid and MailGun, but still not good enough. Postmark is pricier depending on workload though, as your $10/mo only gets you 10k emails per month. That’s plenty for me, but the prices do climb more rapidly. At 50k emails, Postmark’s price reaches $50 compared to SendGrid’s $15. That’s a steep difference.

Anyway, just pointing it out for anybody that might not be satisfied with the big two. I sure wasn’t. I’ve been very happy with Postmark.

I am not suggesting to move away from SendGrid either. My initial post was just a heads up for anyone here who uses SendGrid and wasn’t aware of the issue.

It seems that only some calls to their API are unresponsive as my app notified me through email (using SendGrid transactional email service) that it couldn’t retrieve the email templates from SendGrid.
Now is the time where I actually feel stupid about this error report system, I should be using another email service to warn about SendGrid issues.
My app sends up to 150k emails per month and this is the first time the service is down.

Right. I’m not trying to suggest you’re unsatisfied, just giving people a heads up. Sorry, my reply derails the thread.

Thanks for the tip Thom - have been pretty happy with SendGrid (onboarding email automation, API etc., so hadn’t thought to look elsewhere, though do get a bit peeved with their outages and deliverability - which frankly is rubbish to gmail and outlook accounts mostly). Will check out Postmark.
