USB keypad reading keypress?

I want to use a USB keypad from XKeys to send special network commands to remote gear over the net. I know the network side, I am not sure on the usb keyboard side. I believe the USB connection is a serial type connection, is there a good place to get some pointers on a usb keypad? I am currently looking through the serial knowledge base.

and see what data is sent to the IDE when a key is pressed :slight_smile:

After watching the video and downloading the file, loading and running it, my USB keypad does not show up nor does my USB laster scanner similar to one in the video…

So I am on El Captain on the mac and Xojo 2.2

Okay, as usual, I am an idiot…the XKeys keypad I am using is not a “serial device” like a modem, etc. I needed a text box to have focus to see what it was sending.
