I recently had to move from Ubuntu 18 to Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. This was a clean install of Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS (not an upgrade) and after spending several weeks reloading dozens of applications and settling into the new Ubuntu, I tried today to load one of my projects into Xojo 2021 Release 1.1 and I find that the IDE loads fine but when I try to run or analyze a project the IDE crashes. It simply goes away. No on-screen error messages are displayed.

But when I Run Xojo from a terminal window I see this:

```auto
root@wes-OptiPlex-7010:/xojo2021r1.1# ./Xojo
libocci.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorySegmentation fault (core dumped)
```

The “ **libocci.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory** ” happens when the IDE is loaded but hasn’t crashed yet.

The “**Segmentation fault (core dumped)**” happens when I try to run or analyze the project.

Can anyone help me with this?

-Wes

Perhaps you’re running up against issues like this: [https://tracker.xojo.com/xojoinc/xojo/-/issues/72020](https://tracker.xojo.com/xojoinc/xojo/-/issues/72020)

I’d recommend updating to the latest version of Xojo if you can. We’ve fixed more than a few Ubuntu issues along the way.

Hello. I am not sure if this will help, but I was able to get it working on Ubuntu 24.04 with the procedures in this thread.

> Hello, How do I run or install Xojo 64-bit on Ubuntu to run a simple “Hello World” program? I just installed Xojo 2022r4.1 on Ubuntu 2022.04.01 on VirtualBox 7.0 (7.0 4r154605 (Qt5.15.2)) with Windows 11, intel processor., and attempted to run a Hello World program. Literally, a button with messagebox(“Hello World”), and when I press ‘run’ it crashes. No issues created, just crashed. Here is the video. Hi Frank, I tried the tips from the thread you gave me to no avail. Xojo still crashes on run. ☹

William, I downloaded the latest version of Xojo and it appears to have fixed my issue. Unfortunately I’m now between a rock and a hard place. Either I cough up the money for an upgrade or I revert back to Ubuntu 18. Neither option is doable at this time. But I at least know that there is a path forward.

You know about the license changes for Linux? If Xojo Lite is enough for your Linux app, you can compile for free now.

Martin, I purchased a Xojo Pro license because I have varied needs and project types. I’m a retired software developer who uses Xojo for my hobbyist pursuits now. I was hoping to use my Xojo Pro for as long as possible. I guess I’ve discovered how long “as long as possible” is. 🙂

I’m having the same problem on a System76 laptop running pop\_os. Everything worked perfectly for years. Now the IDE crashes and won’t load projects. Have downloaded the new 2024 release. Same problem.
