Unknown publisher

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to register my company with Microsoft so that I can sign my app? I used App Wrapper Mini for the Mac side, but I would prefer the installer on Windows not say it is from an Unknown Publisher. Thanks.

You do not need to register your company with Microsoft, but to code sign your executable.

Microsoft insists on a Symantec Verisign certificate that cost $499 a year but it is only mandatory if you are a corporation and want to place your app in the Windows Store. If what you want is your app to be recognized as coming from a legitimate developer, other certificate providers are quite fine.

I am using a Comodo certificate and a signing software called KSign I got from
http://codesign.ksoftware.net for less than $100 a year

You create your installer and then simply use Ksign to code sign it. Afterwards, it does not trigger the infamous yellow box. You get a nice blue box

you need to codesign your app and get a certificate for that. Not from microsoft.

We use Comodo/KSign. Easy to work with.

If you use InnoSetup, it can sign the installer as well as the uninstaller without having to use KSign.

Ido use InnoSetup. Do I need a certificate still?

Yes

@Gary McGuire Gary did you get my letter about the pony? It’s all I want this year. Thanks.
