What I mean is a node count, that can optionally be visible irrespective of whether the node is collapsed or not.
Let me find an example since I know Im not explaining this too well.

Like this; what Im thinking of is a combination of treeview and listbox bits .
See the three in the bottom half that have the ‘count’ bubble to the right ?
Thats what I mean. The proper term for them escapes my tired brain right now.
Ok… I have updated a lot of things based on above feedback and comments
It now supports Checkboxes (including TriState) [Beatrix W.]
It has Child Count Display [Stephen T.]
Link to Demo App [compiled for OSX and Windows]
Link to User Guide
Over the next few days (depending on feedback) I will post a PROJECT version, with an encrypted version of the controls, the will run only in the IDE (hey, need to provide SOME incentive )
After I make sure it is as stable as possible, I will release it for sale
Encrypted Class : $49.00 US
Source Code : $99.00 US
None of this one year subscription stuff… Updates are free for as long as I maintain the software…

The link does not seem to work. It simply displays your online shop…
Same for the User Guide too.
Thanks Dave, looking really good
Thanks… look at the image above again… Does that look even better???
There will also be the ability to specify that counts NOT show for individually selected nodes (default is TRUE for all)
Good work Dave. No drag and drop from one node to the other ?
As a developer I allways go for obtaining the sources since tweaking makes every app even nicer.
Very nice. On Windows, there are two kinds of hierarchical lists, though. What you do emulates very well such app as Regedit. However, if you look at the Windows 7 start menu, it uses a different presentation, with no arrows or dotted lines. Indentation suffice to indicate children.
Just turn SHOWLINES off, and adjust the Indent appropriately and it will look almost identical to what you show

Yep, its looking better Dave. Those number badges are what I was referring to previously. This is shaping up really well !

Drag to rearrange the tree is in next version… It will NOT support drag from outside or drag to outside, just drag to rearrange the tree itself.
Indeed. But in the example I posted, Expand and collapse happen upon double click on the node.
It is a detail probably easily fixable with the code, though.
You can’t have everything in ready to wear

AH! didn’t think about that… easy enough to implement
updated screenshot (above)
Both these features are now part of the package
One thing with the node drag. If you attempt to drag a branch INSIDE itself (make it a child of its own children), it will give you a warning, and undo the drag… Otherwise it would have created a circular reference
Dave, the link to the demo is not working anymore. Can you post a link in order to get demo with latest implementations ? Thx.
The content of the link has been changed…
Instead of pre-compiled apps for OSX/WIN (13 meg), it it now a XOJO Project (355kb) which you can run and play with the control
The controls are encrypted, and there is a nag screen that pops up each time it runs, and it will run ONLY in the IDE.
The encrypted version of the class can be purchased for $49.00 USD without the Nag feature
and the complete source code (un-encrypted) will soon be available for $99.00 USD
rely nice control
