In the IDE we have some buttons
One of them is to toggle line numbers on and off.
By default line numbers are off.
Is it possible to have them on by default?
Sorry. Probably the answer is obvious, but I couldn’t find it out.
Not right now. I set up a macro through Keyboard Maestro that turns that on for me automatically.
Having the line numbers on by default has been on my wish list for a while.
I think that once you enable line numbers for a specific code view, the IDE tries to remember the setting for the given view. I only mention this because I find if you go somewhere else in your project, then come back again, sometimes the line numbers show again, but not always. That’s either a fluke, or an IDE feature that needs a little more work.

It’s implemented in 2021 R2, but I have to use 2019 R3.2 because I work on Web 1.0 
You can’t logically expect new things to come in older versions of any app.
I know that. It’s just unfortunate I can’t use a newer version for that project.
