Thread Priority Effect on "Child" Processes

Under OS X (10.4 Tiger, to be precise) and compiled with 2011r4.3:

If I give a thread a low priority, and then that thread launches subsidiary processes via the shell…are the “child” processes restricted by the lowered thread priority?

Or will the subsidiary processes have their own priority and be unrestricted by my thread priority?

Obviously, I am trying to pump more cycles back to the rest of the machine.

Thanks for any advice.

The thread priority has no effect on child processes.

Good to know…

Then I will focus on getting the subsidiary processes to relinquish some of their cycles and not my thread.
