TextField and TextArea BackColor and TextColor can not be changed from white/black in Linux applicat

Hello,
Is it noticed that TextField and TextArea BackColor and TextColor can not be changed from white/black in Linux applications anymore?
This is in Xojo 2017r2.1 (2016r3 is OK)
Anyway, I filed a bug report, Feedback case 49844.

The bug is Verified in Feedback (but not yet Fixed).
Does anyone know a workaround?
Or else this is a showstopper for me.

Did you hear anything back about this? I’ve hit upon the same issue while trying to build my project for Linux (was designed around Mac).

There is now a suggested workaround in my Feedback case 49844.
I have not been able to test it myself yet.
