Test Data Generation

I’m about to start work on a new asset management (finance) project for which I will need to generate a lot of meaningful test data: clients, positions, financial instruments, prices, exchange rates etc. in large volumes.

Anyway among the Black Friday spam l found a company called Devart who are offering their MySQL tool dbForge Data Generator for about 80 CHF and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of it or can recommend a similar tool.

Thanks,

James

James, I don’t know about dbForge, but I’ve used a tool called Randommite very successfully in the past to generate test data. it’s xplat and free to boot.

Sounds interesting I will have a look. Thanks for the tip.

I haven’t used it myself yet, but one of my colleagues speaks very highly of GenerateData.com.

Hope it helps.

I’ve used yan Data to generate random database loads and CSV files to test importers.
Lots of output options.
