I can merge two cells in a table in order to extend the text of a cell to the next cell ?

Things may have changed, but if my memory serves me correctly, the answer was “NO, you cannot merge cells” when I last asked this question about 6 months ago and had the exact same need you do now.

Sorry, no. But you can make a bigger column and use sub tables to split the ones which are not merged.

“Drawing” the table yourself in the document (with PDF commands of course) instead of relying on the built-in table class would be one way to do it … but it would be a lot more work on your end. (maybe stacking 1 line tables?)

Is the work worth it for your application?
