Summers coming

Sorry my Northern Hemisphere friends, but it’s time to move outdoors down under. To this end I have recently purchased a second screen for my laptop. This USB 3 screen is just fantastic. On my dev computer I have 2 24" monitors, and always wanted the same when developing remotely. Adding the AOC USB monitor & using RDP with multimon it’s (almost) like being in my office, but on the deck under the sun umbrella listening to the birds singing their hearts out.

I recently purchased the AOC E1759fwu 17-Inch USB screen, for having a mobile screen:

17" (17.3" viewable) display, 220 cd/m2 Brightness
1600 x 900 high definition resolution, 650:1 Contrast Ratio
USB-powered (no power cable required) with USB 3.0 technology
Foldable flexi-stand for portrait or landscape view in auto-pivot mode, 16:9 Aspect Ratio
Ultra slim design for easy carry on-the-go for business presentations and frequent travelers, and case is included

It works well when connected to a Windows device. On a MacBookPro it cannot be configured directly, brightness looks all wrong and the answer from AOC tech support was this:

[quote]The contrast/brightness adjust can only be preformed to a Windows OS, if you connect the monitor to a Windows OS and change the contrast/brightness settings it will save them so when you connect it back to your Mac it will have the desire changes made to the contrast/brightness

How the heck do you work with that little screen space ?
2 x 27 + the laptops built in 15" & I still feel like I need yet another 27"
Maybe a 5K iMac + 2 x 27’s … that’d be almost enough

I’m with you Norman! There’s never enough space
But I had to cut down. I previously had iMac 27" + 2x22" + iPad as wireless screen.
The desk at the new office don’t have the room for it all. I’m now stuck at iMac 27" + 1x22" :’(

1 solid core door 96 inches x 36 inches
2 screw on legs
huge cheap desk
plus my ancient hand made desk which is basically a 3/4"sheet of plywood 4ft x 6ft
I have room for at least 5 more 27" or larger screens :stuck_out_tongue:

I have been looking at those monitors but I only have USB2 ports (Late 2011 MBP). Is there a way to power it besides USB3?

I was getting myself this 17" AOC only for certain presentations where we are a group of people around a table, without a wall or a screen available for a beamer. It is feasible to showcase software with that screen, but it’s just at the lower limit.

But for normal work I use my retina macbookpro at highest custom resolution plus an external monitor, and then the AOC (or the iPad) just for showing the console.

No, only USB, but it works for me also on old HP laptop with USB2 (Windows)

Since I have an 15" Retina MBP I tend not to use any external Monitor at all…

@Wayne: Shame on you for living and working outside in the sun with feets in your pool, a cool beer next to you, everywhere naked women around… ah sorry sometimes my inner picture gets kinda misdirected…

Thats what I have as well + 2 external 27" monitors

My old laptop only has USB2. The monitor comes with a dual power lead and works well with that, but I’ve also used an external power supply to assist when using with tablet type devices.

You can use a powered USB hub.

FWIW I’m not jealous of it being summer there :stuck_out_tongue:
We get our turn & winter here isn’t so bad - I don’t mind the snow & cold.
This year I think I’ll build a huge skating rink in the yard around the fire pit so we can go out and have a nice fire & skate & all those things.

Neat screen! Human pricing as well. As long as it does the work…
There are too much distraction outside. I’ve tried, but I don’t find it peaceful to work outside…

Oh, it’s my personal view of it all!! Maybe I simply don’t have the right equipment!
It could be!

Erm, am I the only one that sees the potential flaw in that plan? Unless of course you are intentionally planning to feed your family to Satan…

Skating rinks with fire pits in them are very common

Now you see, I was thinking of this :

wrong answer, but I like the way you think!

Fire pit - not volcano :stuck_out_tongue:
And I doubt they have much skating in Turkey

It’s a fire pit in the most distant reaches of Russia :
