Serial Port in use?

Greetings -

Been away from Xojo Forum for quite a while. I need to know how to find whether or not a serial port is in use. Do I need to try to open the port with a failure indicating that it is in use? Or, is there some way from the System object or elsewhere?

I believe that attempting to open it is the only way.
