Screen Shots TO FILE on Windows 8.1 ?

On OS X, cmd-3 and cmd-4 (and variants) exists since the down of Macintosh times. So, if I want screen shots of my application (front window) contents, cmd-4 + Mouse selection + Click creates a png file and store my window contents.

Is there’s similar trick on Windows 8.1 ?
(beside the screen / window contents in the Clipboard that needs a pase anywhere - Paint ? - and save and set a file name and…)

TIA

In windows 8 , you can use the WINDOWS key plus PRTSCRN to do that.
Then look in SCREENSHOTS folder in your MY PICTURES area

Use + to get the current window.

Thanks Jeff, Wayne.

Jeff: my Windows laptop does not have a PRTSCRN key (but it have 16 fn keys).

Wayne: I will check your suggestion.
