Reinstalling to my new Linux system

I need to install my licensed copy of REALStudio 2010 r3.1 to a new PC. I’ve done this before without problems but this time it won’t finish unless I connect with the website which fails. Also the phone number contact that is suggested is always busy. Is there a way to copy the working software from my old Linux pc to my new one, just the REALStudio files, rather than having to install from scratch?

Xojo can help answer licensing related by email. You can reach their customer support here: hello@xojo.com. These days, that’s the best way to get a hold of them. They no longer list a phone number on their contact page: Xojo: Contact Xojo.

Of interest on that page, you’ll find the first question on the FAQ is about the 8-digit activation code step. That had been the way to activate offline and the link from the FAQ is where to start. I only mention this as a possibility to try while you await a reply by email.

Best of luck!

I’m hoping the email route will work for me. Meantime I was able to get an activation code but had zero luck putting it anywhere. Oh well, I’ll be 87 in 3 months. Maybe age is a factor here? Maybe? Thanks for helping Tim!

None of the above are of any use to me as I cannot complete the installation which fails in the final name/license entry on the Xojo website and the phone# given is ALWAYS busy. I have reached the point where I am tempted to sue!
I bought licenses for both Linux & Windows versions and hit dead ends each and every time. Disgraceful …

I didn’t know they offer a phone number, I always see that we need to email to hello@xojo.com, did you get a response?

Are you sure that REALStudio 2010 can run on the OS from the new PC?

The trouble started after a Linux upgrade. So I put a fresh copy of the earlier version on a new SSD and tried the install there. Hits the wall on name/license entry saying I can’t connect even though my internet connection is fine. Had zero luck using the email and the phone# given is always busy. Goodbye $500.

Xojo have changed the way the license work over the years. I have seen other users get help from Xojo with this issue. Maybe @Alyssa_Foley or @Jason_Parsley can help you.

You have used the product for more than 15 years, I don’t think that money was wasted. And it is only Goodbye if you stop trying to make it work again. You can send another email to hello@xojo.com, ping the staff here (even @Geoff_Perlman ) and other users in the forum may help if you can provide more information about the new PC/new Installation/earlier version installed.

I just sent another email to them. Let’s hope this time I get help. Thank you for your support!

You are welcome.
Don’t give up.
I wish I could help you more but I never used RealStudio and don’t know what needs to be done to activate it now. Only know, from what I read in the forum, that you need help from Xojo to make it work.

Edit: just remember that they don’t work Friday-Sunday. May have something next week.

I’ve also pinged the team through our MVP discussion venue so that you hopefully won’t have to wait out the weekend.

Is this an issue with your license key? I ask because you should be able to download it from your account on our site and install it manually. I think that goes all the way back to the version you are talking about. If not, I think we can help you get this resolved using a more recent version. Whatever needs to be done, we will help you get it worked out.

I have my correct license key. The problem happens at the end of the install when I am asked to enter my name and the license key and press enter. It supposedly cannot connect and suggests I call a phone number. That number is always “busy”. I will try again and take a picture of the screen and try to post it here. Thanks for reaching out!

I think you need to forget about that phone, I guess it will never work.
I have never seen a phone listed, but I’m only using Xojo for 6-7 years.

I don’t know if RealStudio allowed off-line installations. Since I’m using Xojo there is an option to download the license and register off-line.

Did I miss a point? Aren’t the actual Linux versions of Xojo now free to use? Just upgrade to the new version…:grimacing:

OP is used to work with RealStudio.
Will be 87 in 3 months.
Changes from RealStudio 2010 to Xojo 2025 will be too much.

Right, but may he wants to build to other systems?

There should be a way to install it such that it does not need to do an internet license check. We added this because we have customers that are sometimes not connected to the Internet for long periods of time. I think originally it as scientists on a research vessel near Antarctica. Please contact customer service and they will get this all figured out for you one way or the other.

Everyone is so willing to be helpful, which is great! Thanks! Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

I decided to stop beating myself up with trying to get my REALStudio program back and downloaded Xojo for my Linux Mint Xia 22.1 system. When I ran the installer I got an error msg.

Hoping someone knows how to fix this.
