Surely only 7 bits are wasted. I’m pretty sure K&R specifies this for C, which I always found wasteful.

I didn’t see the 7 tucked in there at the end of line 1. When K&R was released it was a defacto 8 bit world. When operating systems became 16, 32 and 64 bit the speed optimisation requirements of C and C++ would have kicked in and changed things to more than a byte.

In Pascal we have can put 8 booleans per byte if we desire so.

I hear ya Jeremie…

Sometimes it takes a lot of fiddling with several platforms, models and sub-models to get some good results.
And even then… it takes a lot of cleaning-up to do :confused:

I had an idea that maybe I could add online backup of customer documents to my apps.
So I did a search..

I find the ‘detailed breakdown’ hilarious.

I hope the AI hallucinated those stupid, confusing, useless acronyms.
