Paris

I know that xojo.com has no reference to political questions. Nevertheless I would be happy to find there a sign of solidarity with Paris resp. France. (You can find an example at amazon.com).

This is only a proposal.

Jens, I appreciate the sympathy, as I am sure other people touched by the dramatic events of last Friday.

R. I. P.

Marie, Karabo and myself, want to express our sympathy with all the victims of the cowardly IS attacks in Paris on the innocent victims who died, get wounded or are grieving.

I want to express my deepest condoleances to alle the families of the victims. BUT Europe has weak leaders and the EU turns out to be just a ‘Gedankenexperiment’. Political correctness smothers every rational approach to this problem. Our leaders (Netherlands) refuse to take more precautions to these threads.

With the open borders and the never-ending influx of Muslim immigrants (thousands and thousands every week) is the next attack just around the corner. People (like myself) who are really concerned about this madhouse scenario are sentenced as Nazi’s, ultra-right wing nationalists or xenofobians.
I’m really fed up with our (EU) governments. We’re sitting ducks.

It was not my intention to provoke such highly disagreeable sentences.

It’s a politically charged issue. I wasn’t surprised at all.

At any rate, I share your sentiment.

Lafayette, we are here.

My Family and I know Paris in January 2015, found a spectacular city with educated and friendly people, we are very saddened by the barbarism and stupidity that happened there.

Me and my family’s thoughts and prayers are with the people of France, especially those in Paris.

What is it exactly that you don’t agree with?

Alexander, I ask you kindly to please avoid feeding this discussion here to avoid flames.
The last thing we need now is discussing if EU is behaving right or not with refugees.
Freedom is a double sharped knife: the more you have, the more bad people can exploit it.
But this means not freedom is a bad thing.

You asked Jens but I’d mention that the policeman who was shot in the head by the terrorists while lying wounded on the pavment outside the charlie hebdo office last winter was a Muslim.

Massimo, your reaction is an example of how the discussion in Europe is silenced.
Meanwhile, I rest my case. Speak to you again after the next attack.

Joseph,

I know where the Liberty Statue is in Paris (bridge on the Seine River), but where (and what) is the other one ?

“It’s only a wake-up call if we don’t go back to sleep.”

Alexander, the discussion is not silenced at all, just I believe this is not the right place for it.

Anyway, while I live in Germany, I come from Italy where the refugees problem is an old story and still discussed.
Before Germany decided to open doors for Syrian refugees, Italy struggled for years for the EU taking actions on this problem.
In the meanwhile, Italy got a huge refugees immigration (and not only from Syria). While this created some problems and was sometimes handled in a discussible way, it has never been a security problem.

Just when the Paris attack was happening, I was at a conference where the Palermo (Sicily, Italy) major Leoluca Orlando was exactly talking about refugees and integration. Among other facts, he disclosed that, just in the little Sicily, there are now more than 200.000 regular refugees (irregular number is unknown).
Despite this, never, never, never happened anything. Nothing about security, racism or whatever.

Now I live in Bayern (Germany) , where most of the Syrian refuges are landing and despite being Bayern one of the most conservative land in Germany I still see no problem for now. Some people are worried, sure, and this is normal, but raising walls is not the solution to keep bad people outside.

Walls are just something limiting freedom for everyone, not only refugees.
And Germany already learned this lesson in the hard way.

Alexander, nobody is suppressing a discussion, but this is a thread for condolences. If you want to discuss the issues then please open a new thread or a private discussion thread. I’m happy to participate. But it is simply inapproprite to do it here, and I’m surprised that some liked your posting.

A few months ago, I read an interesting article in the French magazine Jeune Afrique about a report produced by the Dutch organization Kinderombudsman. Kinderombudsman monitors children’s rights in the Netherlands. It seems to keep an eye on insults exchanged by children. In the report last year, the “Dirty Moroccan” was more used for the first time than “Dirty Jew” ( which has been used since the Medieval period). Children’s behaviour is often the result of parental upbringing.

Sometimes, I get worried by people like you because I gave my daughter an international first name and I am scared that one day she may become persecuted by people like you because of her name. Isn’t it a little bit sad ? Perhaps, I should adopt a similar approach and from now on every time I hire someone, I will exclude all Alexanders because one day I read one unpleasant comment from one guy called Alexander on a forum. Or I could broaden my exclusion to Dutch people. You are quite loud when you speak guys and maybe I should hold a grudge against Dutch people. So, next time I see a yellow plate car in Paris, I could damage it because I don’t want you to come to Paris. As an independent thinker, would you think it’s fair ?

The French article is available online http://www.jeuneafrique.com/42142/societe/sale-marocain/

Yoann, shame on you too if you can’t behave any better than Alexander.

Here’s a separate thread for you guys https://forum.xojo.com/27780-political-discussions-go-here
