This is a Report Question, not sure where it should go. I posted it a couple of days back and got no response and I think it is because I placed it in the wrong queue.
I am trying to print on the footer of a report “Page X of Y” where the X is the current page and the Y is the total number of pages.
I can easily get the current page but I have not been able to get the total number of pages.
when I try to use the “before print” event on a label and capture the rpt.Document.PageCount that comes as a null value and gives me an error.
Open to suggestions. Someone told me that this is a known bug but I can’t find any workaround.
There is no way to get the total page count - without rendering the entire report first you can’t tell how many pages there are.
If you’re interested in an alternative for the built in reports, BKeeney Software offers a reporting tool called Shorts. It includes a visual report designer like the IDE does, and you can use special placeholders on a report template for the page count.

(disclaimer: I do happen to work there)

This is a “Pro bono” job so, I don’t have the budget for it. But I will look into it for future projects
