If anyone’s interested, O’Reilly is having a 50% Off sale on training videos and ebooks through Sept 18th.
Thank you, sir.
There is no XOJO books?
I have looked at many publishers for my books, including O’Reilly, and the price becomes too expensive for users. Just an example, right now all of my books are at Great White Software for $8.99 each. In order for me to have the same amount of profit, the exact same book in electronic format for the ‘big’ publishers (Amazon, O’Reilly, etc.) would be about $52.99.
To promote knowledge of Xojo and to help our community by having lower prices, I prefer going through Great White Software.
If there are other benefits that I am missing, feel free to let me know and I’ll take a look.
Thanks
I hate to admit it with all the fond memories, but O’Reilly and its costly books feel kind of outdated today. Paper is so pass…
These are available as several e-book formats including PDF and ePub.
FWIW, I find most of the books I’ve bought from these guys over the years very good, and if you collect reference books like I do, 50-60% off is nothing to shake a stick at.
Do they still do this 50% sale every couple of months?
I’ve moved to paperless except for art and garden books. Needs way less storage space. I just wish that there were some nicer apps than Kindle and Calibre for reading (I’m using this old fashioned device called laptop for reading because the laptop also allows me to run Xojo).
One big advantage of O’Reilly books is that they are completely DRM-free, so you can stick 'em into any app you want, assuming it supports ePub etc.
I have a nice little O’Reilly collection, some of which are in the iBooks app on my iPad mini, which I find comfortable for reading. The first O’Reilly book I ever bought was Matt Neuburg’s REALbasic: The Definitive Guide. Actually, it was so good that I bought the second edition too. He’s long left our particular scene but he still does fantastic, indepth iOS books for Swift developers.
Thanks Eugine.
I just bought some items from it.
