New molecular biology/genomics application written in Xojo

Hi, as there are few biologists here, I thought there’s a chance this might be of interest to someone.

https://github.com/nikolaichik/SigmoID

This app appeared as a quick hack to find promoter sequences in bacterial genomes and has grown into something much larger. It now finds transcription factor binding sites and terminators, connects to online databases and search engines, includes graphical genome browser, etc. Please see the GitHub page for more details.

Currently this is a two men project mostly written in Xojo with important additions in python. The application is completely free and the code is released under GPL 3.0.

The app is cross-platform, but has had little testing on Windows and Linux. It’s at an early alpha development stage, but couple of people are already using it without too many complaints.

I’d be happy to hear any comments.

Nice, but actually it is simply a GUI to apps and databases that do the work, which is much easier to do

You are, of course, right, Markus.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t call ‘easy’ or ‘simple’ a full-featured genome browser written in Xojo ;-).

simply is not the same as simple or easy

But I’m aware that fine nuances of the English language like this one can easily be lost in an international environment.
