Any of you who use Navicat and are planning to upgrade to v12 (which was released today)… a word of caution. If you have connections that you want to keep, export them… and do it in groups representing any folders that you have. They don’t automatically convert your connections, and when you do import them, the folder structure is not kept.
Also a huge price hike with the new version/upgrade.
I’ve read the release notes of Navicat 12 yesterday, wondering what extra they are going to offer for the quite high upgrade price.
Actually I am happy with version 11.x, no big issues with it and my premium version contains everything I needed so far, like ERD models, database synchronization etc.
For the moment I don’t see a good reason to spend the money to upgrade to version 12, perhaps I missed some huge advantages … (?)
First of all, apparently my import problems arose from the fact that I’d used a beta of Navicat 12 from before imports were working properly. Deleting the folder for v12 and restarting seems to have fixed the issue.
That said, exporting connections from a previous version and importing to version 12 does lose passwords (just filed a bug report about that) and in that state I was unable to create groups and have them persist (you could create groups, but if you quit and relaunch, they’d be gone).
I’ve got a maintenance plan through next summer, so it’s “free” for me.

Haven’t spent enough time to know yet, but I use it almost every day so if I find something, I’ll let you know.
It is a little prettier… does that count?
No.
