MouseUp event

I’m a bit confused. I’ve placed code in the MouseUp event of an object and the event doesn’t seem to fire. The language reference for the MouseUp event says,
NOTE: This event will not occur unless you return True in the MouseDown event. The return value is ignored.
I’ve placed this code in the MouseDown event:
Return True // to enable MouseUp
That yields an error,
You cannot return a value because this method has not defined a return type.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?

What is the object?

Despite the object, I am not aware of any Xojo created MouseDown events which do not return a Boolean.

  1. Are you sure you have it in the MouseDown event?
  2. Is this, perhaps, an event you have defined yourself for a custom class?

There is Web Edition…

Ah, thanks Brad. I know nothing of web edition. If that’s the case, how does the OP handle Return True?

Are you using Web edition ? You should post the question in the Web channel. That explains why you did not get an answer right away. Always make sure to post in the right channel.

Return True is for Desktop…

It is web edition and I’ll move my question to that channel. Thank you for your patience.
