That being said, Id like to know how to modify the UIDatePicker example so the month shown is the 3 letter abbreviation rather than the entire month spelled out (ideally Id like to be able to choose which format). This, IMHO, opens up possibilities for use on the iPhone 4s.

Apples UIDatePicker has very specific unmutable formats…
But if you are using a “work-around” due to the fact that Xojo does not support the native iOS control (amazing)
then it should be easy to change the date format, being aware of course that once you DO use UIDatePicker you
lose that custom ability…
As Dave said, it doesn’t look like you can change the display format of the UIDatePicker. That said, you could fake the UIDatePicker using a UIPickerView and assign it the information you want. Here is the UIPickerView I created for another tread:
