Menu Shortcuts on windows

Can someone tell me what the keyboard shortcut on windows normally is for an Options menu item, i.e. Tools > Options. On OS X it is CMD+, and called Preferences but I need to know the windows equivalent. Many thanks.

I was just reading your post using Firefox in a OS X and CMD+ doesn’t open Preferences but makes a zoom.
Probably there is no such a “normal” shortcut.

You misunderstood the way he wrote out the keyboard shortcut. It’s Command and Comma, which he wrote as cmd+,
On Mac that’s the standard. I do not believe I’ve seen any kind of standard on Windows, but I’ve only spent a very limited time using Windows.

In the finder the documented shortcut for the general preferences is CMD, (Command-comma).

Same thing in Xojo Mac.

In Windows, there is no standard shortcut for preferences. Alt-letter is used to open a menu, for instance Alt-F will open File, and then the underlined letter of the option will usually select it.

Options are sometimes in Edit, sometimes in Help, sometimes in Tools…

So for instance in Xojo, Alt-E opens Edit, then O opens Options.

Windows does have some shortcuts, though, like F1 for help. Here is a list for most versions including XP
