Max Size of Downloadable Compiled FIle

I have a program I’d like to sell on the Internet. I’m using GoDaddy for a website. Would someone be able to tell me 26679 KB (26.679 MB) compiled program is too large to download? Would the program need to be ZIPPED?

I could not find any discussion on this in the Forum and I have no knowledge as this is my first time at selling.

I’d like to thank everyone who responds, I sometimes get busy and don’t respond quickly but no disrespect is intended. Thnak you. JIm BAckus

I personally don’t judge software by download size, zip isn’t a bad idea since it’ll slightly reduce the storage needed you might be paying for and make downloading slightly faster. Key word is slightly though, zip isn’t like a 50% reduction.

Personally most software I have is closer to a gig downloads or more so yours is nothing in my mind lol

26MB is not too large for downloads these days. You don’t need to zip it, but zipping has the advantage of keeping all of the files together in a unit. Though, most people will expect an OS-specific installer or package, as opposed to a loose collection of files inside a zip file.

Inno Setup for Windows:

My app for packaging Xojo Linux apps into appimages:

I, for one, dislike zip files, as its content has to be extracted first (on Mac), cluttering my disks. The traditional way (using dmg files) are preferable.

For macOS, you’d build a dmg with the app and notarize it.
Google if you need to know how.

Or maybe get some help with App Wrapper to package your Mac application.

How did you manage such a small app? Even an app without any code is 26 MB on macOS.
