Mac Retina laptops

Hi,

I changed the display on my Retina 13" yesterday and get a Monitor with 2560 x 1600 pixels and that was nice (a bit small at that hour of the day for my old eyes).

I fired Xojo and I had plenty areas to deal with.

If you have a retina display (or HiDPI), how do you use it: as Retina / HiDPI or using it with its native resulution (at 72 or 96 dpi) ?
Why can be interesting too to know.

BTW: for those who do not know, it is easy to go from retina to fumm native resolution. To do that:

a. Apple Menu
b. System Preferences
c. Monitor
d. Click in the rightmost icon below Scales / Resolution (original english words can be different; this is a translation of the French names); its name can be “More Space”.

to come back to the Retina display, click in the second icon (named: Default).

I was earlier looking for a Mac… at first, the neat and fairly cheap Air, but eventually, with some thinking involved, maybe the Pro would be a better choice!?

However, the price is a challenge…!
Can you please give me the Retina introduction?
I understand, it’s something different than an ordinary monitor…(??)
What’s the key!?

No, it is just a very high resolution monitor, which makes very small details very crisp. Considering my poor eye-sight it is complete overkill for me. But then I couldn’t really see a difference between my old iPad2 and a retina iPad either.

if you need low weight and portability then the Air is a good machine, otherwise go Pro.

I buy all our Macs second-hand, however you have to be really careful as a LOT of stolen Macs are being sold. Better spend a little bit more and buy local where you can pick it up and get a receipt with the seller’s details and the serial number.
