# Launch application from URL

Good morning (o;

This was last asked around 10 years ago…so maybe there is a solution now that doesn’t require an expensive plugin (o;

Can I launch my application from an URL like “barcode://?name=xxxxx” and get the parameters in the URL?

There’s an [old blog post](https://blog.xojo.com/2016/05/09/let-your-os-x-desktop-app-react-to-custom-uris/) from 2016 that covers this. May need some changes for API 2.0, but it may still work.

This is why I like Xojo over other languages. You can read a technical information from 8 years ago and it still works in 2024!! 😀
