Las Vegas!

Hi,

from the xojo.com website:

XDC 2014 will be held in the spring in Las Vegas! More information coming soon.

Greetings
Christian

Nice. Tickets to Vegas are usually rather cheap.

I just checked from Sweden, 10 days at hotel including flight is about 1.500 US dollars.

But then, I don’t know if breakfast is including in the hotel.
Would be interesting to know…

I was checking for dates around April 14, 2014.
I’ll stay at the same hotel as the convent, naturally, just checking prices and flight alternatives.
I will probably go from Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.

Nice.

Awesome. I can finally go!

Now wait a second here… Round trip flight from Sweden to Las Vegas, Nevada, United States and back, plus 10 days in a Las Vegas hotel for $1,500US??? That must be one heck of an exchange rate…

A “cheap” hotel is gonna be $90 a night (on a lowball estimate)… making each leg of the air-fare $300?

I cannot even fly from San Diego to Las Vegas for that much (for those not from USA… San Diego is 400 miles [670km] from Las Vegas)

To DRIVE would take me 7 or 8 hours, and fuel alone would cost around $150.

The conference will be March 26, 27 and 28 at the Monte Carlo Restort and Casino. The negotiated hotel room rate is $65/night.

Well, a flight over the atlantic is always between 700 and 1200 Euro depending on where you start and end.
From Frankfurt to Las Vegas here it’s 772 Euro incl. taxes.

Def coming this year. LV is a much better spot than Orlando for me.

Just remember: what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

That’s a good choice of venues. Ive set up events in Las Vegas before and of course, there are plenty of excellent ones held there, such as Consumer Electronics Show. Its just a shame that Star Trek the Experience is no longer there.

YES!!! I just LOVE to use that line myself!! Thank you for moving from Miami!! But the tourist attractions in Florida would be heaven to visit… Again, because I’ve been there in the spring of 1990. (Exchange student.)

The rate is 6:50 for a dollar. I didn’t manage to make a complete list, only one page… (Maybe they don’t like PDF’s…??)
There will be minor additional cost for this fee, but no more than some 30-40 dollars.
I’ve used this service before. (The flight, that is!)
This is only with British Air because they fly the most straight route. I might look at Frankfurt, whatever airline carrier that is…(??)
When I was in Indonesia earlier in this year I booked rooms using Agoda.com and AsiaRooms.com but I assume AsiaRooms main market is not Las Vegas…

Dana! Thank you for this information!

I looked but the hotel is not a possible to book using Agoda.
Monte Carlo Restort and Casino

I will have a booking link for the hotel when the time comes. The rate we are offering will be much better than what you get at the discount sites online.

Yes, that’s fine! No rush!
But maybe people from far away would like to stay more than three nights…?
I can’t speak for all others, of-course, but at least I would like to stay two more nights before the conference. To rest, to get in time, to walk the strip… and all other things you can do while in Las Vegas!

Also, posting here can help me (and others???) get decent flights. I shall look into airline carriers going from Frankfurt. It must be Lufthansa and KLM?

By the way, what airport in Las Vegas is the most convenient!? Las Vegas North, Las Vegas-Nellis Afb or Las Vegas Hendersen?

Are there any direct flights from Europe to Las Vegas? I checked KLM and Lufthansa and also from Amsterdam, Schipol… but no luck!

Our negotiated room rate will be good for a few days before and after the conference for those who plan to stay longer.

Oh!! Terrific!! Very considerate, very good, very thoughtful of you!!

Then I shall just find a way to get there. It seems more difficult since there are only one(??) airline flying direct from Europe to Las Vegas.
I’ve checked alternatives and a really good one goes through JFK and I think I shall avoid JFK…

The ticket for the flight starts at 1.000 dollars and there are plenty to choose from in this segment.

I think this past year we had several people from Europe who arrived several days early and stayed for a week with the conference rate.
I did

Of course. With something like 8 hours time difference, you probably need a week before to adjust
And we have no problem filling this week with stuff.

Great!! I found this thread at TripAdvisor. I haven’t read it all yet. It seems like the shortest way is not the fastest… Or , how shall I put it!

The German airline carrier Condor is the only European carrier flying direct to Las Vegas and they end this at April 24, 2014…

I found a fast, cheap and attractive flight at kayak.com but with one hour stop at JFK (going from international to domestic flights) it seemed little too positive…!!

So far, the flight to Minneapolis seemed fairly attractive… But one thing is for sure, this journey demand a great deal of research!!
I look forward to meet you all for a drink in the bar… Why not!? Or by the pool!

Minneapolis is easy to get around - very well organized & easy to negotiate.
JFK I found a bit overwhelming & it’s a very busy airport to fly into & out of.
