Is it possible to automate the msg typing/sending in a facebook chat ?

I would like to automate this…

  1. Open a shell and ping google.com
  2. If timeouts come up, log them and…
  3. Send the timeouts info as a text string to my isp through a facebook chat window

Is it possible ? Where to start ?

Considering they’ve deprecated the chat API in 2015, you probably should go another route, like sending via messenger.

If you find this too daunting, you might also consider using Slack. Their API is quite easy to hook into and they have native apps for Mac, windows, Linux, iOS and android.
