iOS in free IDE?

I can’t see an option in the unregistered IDE for iOS as a target. Is that right? I’m definitely running r3.

Ah, as I’m typing this a thought occurs - must I also be on OSX?

Yes, you need to be on a Mac with Xcode installed(to get the iOS Simulator).

OK thanks. So I can’t even view the features on Windows (ie I can’t even create an iOS project in any form)?

??
Excuse me, so, this means developing for iOS will not work using Windows…?
Makes sense in a way… But at the other hand, gives the software a different price tag when the Mac also needs to be purchased to make such development!

I plan to upgrade to Pro, but … then I know what to expect!
I also was expecting the iOS option, but I thought my license was the wrong kind…?

It’s because the additional software required is Apple-provided and runs only on OS X.

Apple Air will do the work!
Right?
Not too expensive, slim and with extra keyboard, mouse and bag.
Thank you for being more clear in this issue!

A MacBook Air should do fine if you can cope with the small screen and resolution
Remember to max out RAM as it can’t be added afterwards.

System Requirements for iOS:
Only the OS X version of Xojo open iOS projects and can create iOS apps. There are also more restrictive IDE requirements:

 • OS X Mavericks 10.9 or later
 • Xcode 6.1 (for iOS Simulator)

iOS apps created with Xojo work on these versions of iOS:

 • iOS 7
 • iOS 8

These iOS devices are supported:

 • iPhone 4S and newer iPhones
 • All iPad mini models
 • iPad 2 and newer models
 • iPod touch (current model)

A paid Apple iOS Developer account is required for:

 • Deploying to iOS devices
 • Submitting to the App Store
Thank you!
A MacPro SSD is more than twice the price…
I thought I had 13" today but I now think it’s more like 14-15"…
On Dustin the RAM is 8 GB on the Air 13".

Thank you for bringing this up. I must think… !
There is time.

You can get a MacBook Air 13" with 128SSD (just 4gb RAM) for about 900€

I’m very happy with the MBA 13" with 256G SSD. The screen res of 1440x900 matches my old past life MBP 15". Sometimes I use a 2nd screen, but I’ve done some Xojo stuff across the Atlantic with it.

iWork on MacBook Air every day, 4GB memory and it is ample. I never have any problems. I also don’t have an issue with screen space but maybe thats because I have got used to it. I must admit when i do work occasionally on my 22inch iMac it looks like a cinema screen.

I’m not too picky with details…
But while we’re at it, is it possible to add an extra screen to MBA?

I have a Samsung laptop with SSD and I find it quite nice…
I think MacPro is too expensive and it also has a CD slot as I’d like to stay away from. Meaning, not pay any extra for…
I don’t miss it, I have no use of it.

Looking at the spec, I now see… Does processor really matters in this case!? Isn’t 4 GB RAM enough?
13.3", 8 RAM /256 SSD, 1,4 GHz

What? Nooo, MacBook Pro don’t have a CD slot.

13" MacBook Pro
It’s confusing. Maybe some do and others don’t?

“8x SuperDrive” = CD slot…?

Aah, The 13" non-Retina seems to have one.
The 13" Retina does not

I only just sold off a white macbook 13inch 2010 model.
With built inCD and upgraded RAM it was fine for Xojo work.

Bought a retina macbook pro (to test retina display) and frankly … waste of money
Screen is little better IMO and I lost the CD slot so I had to buy an external drive to burn CDs.

Point: second hand white MacBooks have plummeted in price. Grab one for a couple of hundred dollars and install Windows in Bootcamp so you can run it natively.
