Does “internet-enabling” a disk image mean that after download Safari auto-mounts it? If so, is this still standard practice and if it is, how can this be done via command line code or is there a utility app?
I’m considering buying DMGCanvas, does anybody know if this handles it for you? I couldn’t see an option.
Also, what’s the best procedure to check that a signed DMG is passing Sierra’s Gatekeeper’s validation?
Thanks.
Yes, that’s what an internet-enabled disk image is. However, it relies on the “Open ‘safe’ files after downloading” setting. I don’t recall if this is on or off by default, but I would hope most people keep it off.
Yes it’s an option flag for the command line. The utility app is sitting in Utilities, it’s called Disk Utility.app
In DMG Canvas the setting is called “Auto-open Folder” on the disk image settings.
You can test DMG Signing with AppWrapper but you must be on Sierra. There are command line ways as well, but again, you cannot verify anything unless you are running Sierra.
My dmg’s created with DMGCanvas auto mount when clicked after DL’ing. I made no particular settings to make that happen.
If not using AppWrapper for signing (I would recommend you do) you will need to UL the file to some server on the net, then re-download it and see that it passes gatekeeper when opened.
Thanks, Tim, but I think “auto-open” refers to the disk image auto-opening after it is mounted but you first have to mount it manually by double-clicking it after download. I’m not 100% certain about this because I haven’t tested it yet but the release notes suggest they are two different settings:

Thanks, I need to test all this on Sierra.

The help book screenshot shows an older version of DMG Canvas with the text “Internet Enabled” so now I’m confused.

I might have to email their support and ask them.
