How to capture a modal dialog Windows 10?

Hello,

How can I capture a modal dialog in Windows 10?

For example how can I capture that all too familiar window “Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device”.

Ctrl + PrtScn does not work.

Thanks.

Lennox

Look for Snipping Tool in Windows Accessories.

Thanks,

Snipping Tool will not work for a modal window.

The UAC is meant to be hyper secure so it can’t be driven by some dodgy code to skip the message. If it’s just for tech support from a user try asking for a mobile phone picture of it and explain the above or see the following for more info:

Here’s some info on getting around it:

If its just to explain a situation, save yourself some grief.

Download an existing grab and change the program name using Paint.

If it is a computer you can have control on setting UAC security level, you can set it to the 3rd level from top that say

“Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop)”,

then you can use Snipping Tool or possibly other tools.

Hi Cho Sing Kum,

How is that done? Is that the same as Julian’s suggestion?

Thanks.

Lennox

OK Thanks Jeff, Julian and Cho Sing Kum and others,

I found the link…
https://networking.grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleid=19308

It is simple and it works.

Thanks again.

Lennox

Note: clicking that link does not work but copy and paste “https://networking.grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleid=19308” without quotes does.

Lennox, just a detail : when you post a link, simply paste it. Right now your link when clicked shows as example.com.

Thanks Michel.
